TripAdvisor Awards 8 Greystone Hotels the Certificate of Excellence 2013

Greystone Hotels is thrilled to announce that eight of our properties were awarded the Certificate of Excellence by Trip Advisor for 2013. The properties awarded this prestigious honor include: TownePlace Suites and Fairfield Inn & Suites in Bend, Oregon, the Hotel Griffon and Inn at Union Square in San Francisco, Creekside Inn in Palo Alto, Élan Hotel Los Angeles, The Bristol Hotel in San Diego, and finally our newest addition, the Empress Hotel of La Jolla, California. The accolade, which honors hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on TripAdvisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide. Only the top-performing 10 percent of businesses listed on TripAdvisor receive this award.

To qualify for a Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travelers on TripAdvisor, and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months. Additional criteria includes the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months.

Greystone Hotels encourages and embraces guest feedback and the General Managers at each Greystone Hotel take time every day to read and respond to guest reviews.

Greystone Hotels Earth Day Donation to The Nature Conservancy 2013

Each year, Greystone Hotels donates a portion of all guestroom and meeting room revenue accumulated on Earth Day, April 22, to The Nature Conservancy. On May 14, 2013, Greystone Hotels was proud to present a check to The Nature Conservancy for $2,500 to help support their environmental conservation efforts.

Attending the check ceremony was President of Greystone Hotels, Eric Horodas, Area Director of Sales & Marketing for Greystone Hotels, Cathy Estelle, and Eamon O’Byrne, Associate Director of Operations for The Nature Conservancy.

Greystone Hotels is committed to being an environmentally conscious company and in celebration of Earth Day, Greystone Hotels will donate a portion of all room and meeting room revenue generated on April 22, from each of our ten properties, to a leading environmental conservation organization. Greystone Hotels also participates in other ‘green’ initiatives year round in order to reduce our carbon footprint. Our eco-friendly practices include using green amenities, green cleaning products, recycling, and providing electric car charging stations at select properties. Many of the Greystone hotels are also involved green hospitality programs such as Green Hotels Global and the Clean the World program.

American Airlines Expected to Start Flying to Bend from LAX

Best Western Seven Seas Donates to Wounded Warrior Dinner

With a Preferred Government Program that offers special rates and incredible service to government travelers, contractors and employees, the Best Western Seven Seas was happy to help when approached by the Old Mission Rotary Club with an opportunity to support a volunteer program that serves dinner to wounded warriors at the San Diego Naval Medical Center in Balboa Park.

On February 26, 2013, the Seven Seas Cafe provided dinner for 186 Marines, 43 Army soldiers and 15 Navy personnel, all of which have been wounded in battle and many of whom are amputees and still on active duty. These soldiers must undergo grueling rehabilitation sessions and medical appointments and The Best Western Seven Seas was honored to be able to sponsor a dinner for these brave men and women.

Bay Bridge Light Installation

Celebrate the 75th anniversary of San Francisco’s iconic Bay Bridge with the Bay Lights art light sculpture beginning today, March 5, 2013. This monumental art installation, designed by world-renowned artist Leo Villareal, will feature more than 25,000 white LED lights that will cover the West Span of the Bay Bridge in a spectacular display that is 1.8 miles wide and 500 feet high. Believed to be the world’s largest LED light sculpture, the Bay Lights energy efficient, individually programmable lights will cover the Bay Bridge’s vertical cables to create a display that offers unique patterns of light across the entire western span. The Bay Lights will be on display from dusk until 2am daily and will viewable from the city of San Francisco and points north. “Front row” views will be available at the Hotel Griffon, with bay view rooms that give guests a priceless view of the bridge, the San Francisco Bay and the Embarcadero. The Inn at Union Square and the King George Hotel also provide great home bases in San Francisco to explore the city and see the light installation. If you are staying at the Creekside Inn, a quick train ride up to San Francisco is a fun and convenient way to come see the lights.

The Bay Lights will run from March 2013 through March 2015.

Greystone Hotels Supports the Taji 100

The King George Hotel and Greystone Hotels are proud partners of the Taji 100. The Taji 100 is fitness challenge and fundraiser throughout the month of February in which participants have a goal of achieving 100 miles in 28 days either by walking, hiking, jogging, running on the treadmill or using the elliptical. All proceeds benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.

The Taji 100 began in 2010 and is named after the city in Iraq where the event originated on a military base with the goal of keeping the troops active and improving their morale. When their deployment was completed, soldiers that had participated in the original Taji 100 brought the event stateside in 2011 and began to use it as a fundraiser.
